Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Stir in chopped onion and garlic. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard (if using). Let cool slightly.

2. Assemble the Rolls

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface into a 1/8-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 2-inch wide strips.
  • Spoon sausage mixture onto each strip, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Roll strips into logs, sealing edges to keep filling inside.

3. Bake

  • Whisk egg and brush over rolls for a golden finish.
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until pastry is puffed and golden.

4. Serve

  • Let cool slightly. Garnish with herbs and serve warm with dipping sauce!

Pro Tips

  • Quick hack: Use pre-rolled puff pastry to save time.

  • Veggie-packed: Mix in spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
  • Gourmet twist: Swap cheese for blue cheese or smoked Gouda.
