What You’ll Need:
- 8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 lb shrimp (peeled and cleaned)
- 1/2 lb smoked sausage (cut into slices)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic (chopped)
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
How to Make It:
- Cook the pasta: Follow the instructions on the box. Save 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining. Set the pasta aside.
- Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, until pink. Take them out and set them aside.
- Cook the sausage: In the same pan, cook the sausage slices for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside with the shrimp.
- Make the sauce: Lower the heat to medium. Melt the butter in the pan, then add the garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for about 1 minute until the garlic smells amazing.
- Add liquid: Pour in the chicken broth and the saved pasta water. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Mix it all together: Put the pasta, shrimp, and sausage back into the pan. Toss everything to coat it in the sauce. Heat it through.
- Finish and serve: Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and garnish with parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
Tip:
Squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the pasta for a bright, fresh twist!
